Bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
White, odorless, crystalline powder, light in weight, with a weakly alkaline reaction in water. It is non-toxic and has a mild alkaline effect. When heated, it decomposes to form sodium carbonate, carbon dioxide and water. Baking soda is widely known as a food additive, used as a leavening agent, as well as in cosmetology, medicine and everyday life.
